Scope

  • Executes scientific experiments under limited supervision contributing to the conception, design, and interpretation of scientific data in support of research projects.

  • Responsible for the conception, design, implementation, and interpretation of scientific research experiments in support of vaccine development.

  • Participate in scientific collaborations and reporting of data in technical reports and scientific journals.

  • Maintains required documentation for processes and equipment.

In this role, You will:

  • Responsible for the conception, design, implementation, and interpretation of scientific research experiments in support of vaccine development.

  • Ensure highest ethical standards, good scientific practices & data integrity are implemented in daily scientific activities.

  • Ensure timely data collection, & reporting (including participation to internal/external scientific documents) in area of responsibility.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the key research activities and basic regulations.

  • Takes appropriate actions to resolve issues in area of responsibility affecting research strategy and progress.

  • Contributes to implementation of project specific research and publication plan.

  • Can represent own team at technical project team level. Communicates issues proactively and effectively negotiates potential solutions.

  • Functions effectively as a team member on one or multiple projects.

  • Ensures timely sharing of information.

  • May train and oversee platform staff on equipment operation and data analysis and acts as trainer for colleagues with less experience.

  • Participates in writing internal/external reports and scientific documents in support of internal projects.

  • May Supervise PhD students.

  • Contributes to provide data to IP for patent filing and for the preparation of regulatory documents.

  • Prepares and presents scientific data in internal meetings.

  • Communicates effectively with manager, senior scientific staff and members from other Functions to ensure progression of project related work.

  • Communicates issues proactively.

  • Understands and applies established Health, Safety and the Environment policies.  Actively participates in training, hazard identification and other HS&E programs.  Stops any operation if unsafe or is out of compliance and reports it immediately to management.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD in Life Sciences or Chemistry or BSc/engineer, preferably in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Genetics.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, oral and writing Growing ability to present scientific data.
  • Understands & implements processes specific to Pre-Clinical R&D and to GSK with minimal bureaucracy and a focus on efficiency.
  • Understands internal policies required to maintain high quality standards and to protect GSK intellectual property.
  • Learns and understands how to use the Electronic Lab Note Book.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred; if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • At least two years of job related experience.

  • Innovative thinking is a plus, be able to identify link between different components of a problem or situation related to own work.

  • Italian language would be an advantage.
