Role Description

Engineer is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration. It may also involve taking functional oversight of engineering delivery for specific departments.

Work includes:

• Planning and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals
• Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions
• Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow
• Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.
• As a lead engineer you would be responsible for driving the design and development of scalable and high-performance backend systems. The role requires hands on coding, architectural decision making and leadership skills. You bring in deep expertise in Java based implementations and strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and Microservices architecture. You will closely collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and maintainable services, mentoring junior engineers and promoting engineering excellence.
• It is preferred to have certain level of knowledge on Artificial intelligence and Gen AI

Your key responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and deployment of microservices using Java full stack technology stacks.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects and devops to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Adhere and promote best practises and standards.  Drive the code reviews, coding standards and mentoring junior members.
• This will be individual contributor role

Your skills and experience

Must Have

• Overall Experience: 15+ years in software engineering with hands-on coding, primarily in Java technologies, and 3+ years of relevant Google Cloud experience.
• Deep knowledge of Java, JVM, and object-oriented principles.
• Strong expertise in Microservices architecture, patterns, and practices.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and development of REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience in architecture design and building consensus across teams.
• Deep knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Strong knowledge of DevOps and SRE best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub and Terraform.Using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery for rapid and safe deployments.
• Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular), HTML5, Bootstrap, Node.js.
• Understanding of REST principles and associated technologies.
• Familiarity with Architecture and Design Principles, Algorithms, and Data Structures.
• Approaches that support rapid, incremental, and iterative delivery (SOA, Microservices).
• Significant experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and applying modern engineering practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Desirable skills that will help you excel                                                                      

• Knowledge of event drive architecture - Kafka, RabbitMQ etc.
• Strong problem solving, leadership capabilities and communications skills.
• Working knowledge of GIT, CICD, Gradle, DevOps and SRE techniques
• Prior experience of leading teams, mentoring would be a plus

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or relevant technology & science
