Role Summary: The Sales Strategy & Operations Lead will serve as a strategic advisor and execution partner to the SVP of National Accounts, driving operational rigor, strategic alignment, and cross-functional coordination across the segment. This role is a force multiplier, enhancing leadership effectiveness, accelerating decision-making, and ensuring the successful delivery of strategic initiatives that support growth, retention, and transformation across Cigna’s largest commercial clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Execution & Planning:
Lead the development and execution of multi-year strategic roadmaps aligned with National Accounts priorities.
Translate executive vision into actionable plans, ensuring alignment across Sales, Client Management, Underwriting, Product, and other Enterprise partners.
Monitor progress against KPIs and strategic goals, adjusting plans as needed to ensure outcomes.
Operational Excellence:
Design and implement governance models and management processes that improve segment performance and accountability.
Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, resource gaps, and process inefficiencies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, analytics, and incentive compensation structures.
Design and implement infrastructure to drive relationship mapping/execution, c-suite engagement and executive sponsor activities.
Leadership Enablement:
Serve as a trusted advisor and connector across the National Accounts leadership team, including Growth Leaders, Existing Business Leaders, and Strategy Leads.
Facilitate leadership forums, town halls, and strategic planning sessions.
Act as a proxy for the SVP in meetings and decision-making processes when appropriate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Mobilize and lead cross-functional teams to deliver on high-impact initiatives.
Ensure alignment with broader US Commercial and Enterprise strategies, working closely with other sales and process leaders across segments.
Talent & Culture Stewardship:
Support succession planning, leadership development, and talent reviews for critical roles within National Accounts.
Champion a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in strategic operations, consulting, or executive support roles, preferably within healthcare or insurance.
Deep understanding of National Accounts dynamics, including client segmentation, sales cycles, and retention strategies.
Experience supporting senior executives in matrixed environments.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive operational transformation.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
High emotional intelligence and ability to influence without authority.
Familiarity with enterprise systems (Workday, Concur, SharePoint) and performance management frameworks.
