Sales & Application Specialist (Industrial Quality Solutions)

Position Summary:

The Sales and Application Specialist (SAS) – Industrial Quality Solutions (IQS) will have responsibilities in all areas of supporting the growth of IQS for ZEISS. The SAS will work extensively within a networked regional and global team to support in defining and executing go-to-market strategy and directly promote ZEISS’ Industrial Metrology portfolio within industry markets. This includes complete opportunity management, from lead generation, needs assessment, creating and presenting proposals through to final negotiation of contracts.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Become a leading specialist in ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions portfolio and its applications
  • Performing market analysis to identify and understand market opportunities in the IQS segment
  • Provide insights on industrial metrology applications, workflows and jobs-to-be-done
  • Understand the needs of prospective customers to qualify their application/instrumentation needs.
  • Managing incoming leads and opportunities in the company’s CRM system.
  • Monthly Sales demand forecasting and reporting through sales project management (Funnel Management)
  • Prepare activity schedules, activity reports, prospect lists
  • Visit clients face to face and set up and conduct virtual meetings
  • Sell products / Close deals to meet annual order intake, revenue and profitability targets
  • Promote products to (prospective) clients
  • Arrange contract and payment details with the client
  • Finding potential/new customers in academic and industrial/private sectors
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing and new customers
  • Arrange and do demonstrations/presentations
  • Arrange and coordinate deliveries/installation of products
  • Handle clients’ queries in oral and/or written form
  • Receive customer orders and arrange the ordering of equipment together with Back-office team
  • Update records
  • Prepare quotations
  • Arrange and coordinate servicing of equipment
  • Provide continuous feedback to the national sales and PC Managers
  • Keep sales records
  • Organize and attend relevant conferences/exhibitions
  • Keep track of competitors (products/activities)
  • Arrange/coordinate customer training when and where required.
  • Follow-up on customer payments
  • Arrange equipment for branches and congresses
  • Arrange product-related workshops, congresses, and roadshows
  • Assist representatives (dealer partners) with specific product requirements
  • Ensure marketing material for the product is current and available
  • Present market related data to the National sales Manager & PC Manager for budgeting
  • Keep current records on competitive products
  • Provide product training to representatives and dealers when required
  • Provide product demonstrations when required.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve targets and expand customer base
  • Always stay up to date with products and software through self-learning activities and attending webinars
  • Participate in budget planning (unit forecasting).

Job Requirements:

Education / |Professional Certification

  • Matric and Degree in electrical or mechanical or industrial engineering (N6) or qualified toolmaker or metrologist 

Experience

  • Min 2 years’ work experience in technical sales
  • Experience working with multinational companies.
  • Broad knowledge of industrial metrology and measurement applications
  • Preferably experience in technical sales to industrial accounts
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, with the ability to translate technical information
  • Strong presentation skills and able to communicate with small and large groups
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Africa, Africa and abroad when required
  • Benefit to be able to perform CNC programming
  • Understand and interpret CAD drawings.
  • Interpretation of technical manufacturing drawings,
  • Dimensional metrology,
  • Proven experience in technical sales, application support, or a similar role
