Position Summary
The Business Development Manager role is part of the Infectious Diseases Business Unit at Abbott Rapid
Diagnostics S.A.S., France. Reporting to the Sales Manager for the Infectious Diseases division, this position combines direct sales responsibilities with strategic account development to accelerate growth and strengthen Abbott’s market position in France.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of applicable Quality Processes
• Responsible for exhibiting professional behaviour with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
• Responsibility to understand and maintain awareness of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Promote, market, and manage sales of Infectious Diseases products to public and private sector clients.
• Prospect and develop assigned accounts within your geographic territory.
• Achieve revenue targets and propose annual action plans to the Sales Department.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers in your sector.
• Collaborate with application, scientific, and marketing teams to support strategic accounts.
• Oversee customer service activities including tenders, proposals, contract execution, and sales follow-
up.
• Provide user training and instrument installation when needed.
• Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory procedures.
• Deliver regular reporting and contribute to accurate sales forecasting
• Identify and engage priority accounts (e.g., APHP, central procurement groups).
• Develop and manage multi-year account plans aligned with growth and adoption goals.
• Negotiate strategic partnerships with key medical and administrative stakeholders.
• Lead complex procurement processes (MAPA, framework agreements, centralized purchasing).
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise on their business impact.
• Work closely with legal and market access teams to secure successful outcomes
Education / Experience / Skills
• Strong sales expertise
• Demonstrated success in complex solution sales within diagnostics, medtech, or healthcare.
• Deep understanding of hospital and institutional ecosystems.
• Expertise in Key Account Management and high-level negotiation.
• Good level of English
• Scientific higher education (type master in biology, biochemistry, etc.), expertise in biology and commerce appreciated
• Good knowledge of the field of medical biology diagnostics
• Experience in biology (“point of care”) will be an important asset
• Confirmed sales expertise in the field of medical devices or equipment
