We are now looking for a
Safety Manager
to join our Global Marine team in Europe, preferably in Finland but could be Ireland, Germany, Italy or France.
In this role, you will be driving a strong, positive safety culture across the organization and you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our Safety Management System. You will report directly to the Head of Marine Business.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a proactive safety culture, engaging leadership and teams.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures aligned with KONE and marine industry standards.
- Lead safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Manage accident and near miss incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and maintain compliance with international and local safety requirements.
- Report safety performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Set safety objectives, roles and responsibilities; support leadership and engage employees.
- Develop safety competencies, communication and awareness programmes.
- Represent the organization in safety matters with external stakeholders.
- Support crisis and emergency response planning and exercises.
We expect you to have
- Proven track record in safety management, including implementing and maintaining safety management systems and driving continuous improvement.
- Ability to drive a proactive safety culture and engage stakeholders.
- Expertise in safety risk management processes, tools, and practices, including hazard identification and mitigation.
- Ability to develop and implement safety policies and objectives, ensuring compliance with international and local regulations.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, emergency response planning, and contractor safety compliance.
- Strong knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis, with experience in corrective and preventive actions.
- Motivation to conduct safety audits and inspections at shipyards.
- Understanding of marine operations and shipyard environments is highly desirable.
- M.Sc., Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in safety, engineering, environment or similar field.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong communication and influencing skills to drive safety awareness and compliance across diverse teams.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to operate in matrix structure and collaborate across teams.
