Job Summary: You will serve as an SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST of COMFLEACT YOKOSUKA . ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below.***

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) safety advisor and consultant to all levels of management for installation of the serviced organizations.
  • You will advise management and workers on safety requirements and potential accident causing situations and methods/techniques for preventing accidents.
  • You will provide technical safety training and evaluate safety meetings and training conducted by supervisors and recommend appropriate actions to eliminate unsafe conditions/practices.
  • You will coordinate long-term studies of unsafe work conditions, coordinate safety matters such as medical, fire prevention, procurement, etc. to provide adequate control of safety and health hazards.
  • You will recommend short and long-term financial planning, determine fiscal requirements and develop annual spending budget and spending plans.
  • You will prepare and revises local safety instructions and guides and ensure local safety instructions and guidance are in compliance and aligned with NAVOSH requirements.
  • You will analyzes and investigates mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, cause and contributing elements.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing data on work operations, mishaps, and safety practices to prepare reports of findings that propose corrective measures for unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices; 2) Investigating mishaps, hazard reports, and unsafe or unhealthful working conditions to protect personnel and property; 3) Advising personnel of safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes; and 4) Conducting safety and occupational health inspections and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of unit safety program.
