Hybrid Full time

Alberta Blue Cross® is an Alberta based organization dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experience and community leadership. We’re committed to providing the best health coverage to over 1.8 million members and take an active role in promoting wellness. We believe in what we do—and place trust in our employees to deliver our vision.

Working at Alberta Blue Cross® means having a career where you’ll be recognized for your contributions. We value diversity, encourage our team members to maintain a healthy work-life balance and provide opportunities for career growth.

OVERVIEW:

As the successful candidate, you will design and deliver enterprise-grade automations using modern RPA platforms. Working closely with business teams and product owners, you'll identify and prioritize automation opportunities, translate requirements into robust technical designs, and take solutions from build through testing, deployment, hyper-care, and ongoing support.

Your toolkit may include RPA platforms (desktop and cloud automation), low-code/no-code application development tools, and enterprise integration technologies — connecting across business systems, databases, APIs, and collaboration tools. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) is highly preferred; candidates with strong RPA fundamentals on other platforms is an asset.

You'll also leverage AI-assisted development capabilities where appropriate — including document processing, intelligent data extraction, and natural-language-driven development — to accelerate delivery and improve outcomes.

Success in this role requires partnering across Process Automation, IT Operations, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are secure, resilient, and governed in line with automation Center of Excellence (CoE) practices. Your work will support measurable efficiency gains and enhance employee and customer experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Implement end-to-end delivery of automation solutions (workflow and RPA) — from process discovery and definition through design, build, test, deployment, and hyper-care, in partnership with business product owners.

  • Develop robust RPA and workflow solutions by building attended and unattended automations, workflow orchestrations, and business applications that integrate securely with enterprise systems, databases, and APIs across desktop and cloud platforms.

  • Engineer for resilience using reusable patterns (logging, exception handling, retries, alerting); monitor production automations; provide timely incident triage, root-cause analysis, and continuous performance optimization.

  • Leverage AI-assisted capabilities by applying intelligent document processing, data extraction, and natural-language-driven development tools where appropriate to accelerate delivery and enhance business outcomes.

  • Work within Git-based repositories and CI/CD pipelines; apply solution versioning, environment promotion, and deployment approvals. Author and maintain technical documentation including PDDs, SDDs, runbooks, and test cases to ensure traceability and audit readiness.

  • Contribute to the Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) - support governance standards, deliver knowledge-sharing sessions, catalog reusable assets, enable citizen developers, and ensure compliance with security, privacy, and organizational policies.

  • Pursue continuous learning and innovation by stay current with emerging automation and AI technologies, pursue relevant certifications, and contribute ideas that advance the team's capabilities and the organization's automation maturity.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A related degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering—or equivalent experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience in automation/RPA development delivering production-grade solutions in an enterprise environment.

  • Strong fundamentals in UI automation (selectors, exception handling, retries, attended/unattended models) and experience integrating with enterprise systems via REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and secure authentication patterns (OAuth, service principals).

  • Proficiency in one or more of PowerShell, .NET, Python, working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

  • Experience with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, and structured release management using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or equivalent.

  • Exposure to cloud services (e.g., Azure Logic Apps, Functions, API Management), AI/ML capabilities (document intelligence, language models), or platform extensibility (custom connectors, plugins) is beneficial.

  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices: sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and iterative delivery.

  • Ability to author and maintain quality technical documentation (PDDs, SDDs, runbooks).

  • Professional certifications like PL-900, PL-500 (RPA Developer), PL-200 or any other RPA tools are highly preferred.

  • Work collaboratively with business and technical teams to support the delivery of effective, wellaligned automation solutions.

  • Experience in insurance or healthcare industry is an add-on.
