Overview:

In January 2017 Diageo announced a move to enter the Irish whiskey market with the launch of Roe and Co Premium Blended Irish whiskey and a €25M investment to revive The 1950s Guinness Power Station at St. James’s Gate into a new Urban Distillery with Malt whiskey at its heart. Anchoring the Roe and Co brand firmly in the heart of the liberties within a stone’s throw from St. Patrick’s tower, the last relic of George Roe’s great distillery.

Set in the heart of the original Golden Triangle of Irish Whiskey, our urban distillery endeavours to create lifelong advocates in the visitors who join us at our home in Dublin 8. The Roe & Co Manager will welcome guests to our home, and showcase the spirit of collaboration, innovation an exploration that lays at the core of Roe & Co Irish Whiskey.

Set across the 120 capacity Powerhouse Bar & 60 seat cocktail garden, whiskey, cocktails and food come together, our two show-stopping experiential tour rooms and our boutique distillery store, this is a whiskey experience like no other. Roe & Co Distillery Brand Ambassadors will work across all areas of the business to deliver an incredible guest experience and convert our visitors into Roe & Co ambassadors in their own right.

About the Role

This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional, immersive, and consistently world-class visitor experience at Roe & Co Distillery. The role leads frontline experience teams, bringing the Roe & Co story to life, and ensures every guest interaction reflects excellence, warmth, and authenticity – whilst driving operational performance, engagement and continuous improvement.

Reporting into the Visitor Experience Manager for Diageo Irish Brand Homes, the Roe & Co Manager will lead, coach, and inspire experience teams to perform consistently at their best. Build a high-performance culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and pride in the Roe & Co brand. Support recruitment, on-boarding, training, and development of team members, conduct regular performance check-ins, coaching conversations, and recognition initiatives.  Ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across the experience, fostering a safe, welcoming environment at all times for staff and guests.

The Visitor Experience Team deliver an exceptional experience to tens of thousands of guests annually. The role spans all areas of the Visitor Experience, from interactive experiences to admissions to bar service delivery.  The Roe & Co Manager has full responsibility for the co-ordination and planning for the delivery of service by a team of up to 25 staff.  They will ensure that a full operational plan is in place for the delivery of an exceptional experience, providing direction & supervision as required to the Visitor Experience Team.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all aspects of the Roe & Co Visitor Experience. This includes the following areas:

  • Ensure daily operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently across assigned areas.

  • Responsibility to meet agreed financial KPIs for the business across key metrics such as NSV and per capita spend. Attend regular monthly meetings with the Finance Team to ensure the Visitor Experience is performing in line with monthly goals and overall annual operating plan (AOP).

  • Act as a visible leader on the floor, setting the tone for hospitality, storytelling, and service excellence.

  • Identify and resolve operational issues in real time, always maintaining experience standards.

  • Management, delivery and evolution of all tour experiences.

  • Management and auditing of all scripted areas within the Visitor Experience.

  • Collaborate with Admissions, Bar, Retail, F&B, Facilities & Events teams to deliver seamless experiences.

  • Champion a culture of curiosity and improvement, testing new ideas to enhance guest engagement.

  • Ensure all guests enjoy consistently great & distinct experiences.

  • Responsible for leading, coaching and managing between 3-5 direct reports, setting clear and stretching goals in line with the key strategic business priorities.

Qualifications:

  • A 3rd level qualification in hotel and catering, tourism, hospitality management, business management or related field is advantageous.

  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience in a premium hospitality, tourism, cultural, or visitor attraction environment.

  • A strong understanding of financial operations and experience meeting key financial targets, working within defined budgets and assigning resources to meet agreed AOP goals.

  • A strong Operations Manager, leading cross-functional teams, preferably in a hospitality, tourism or service environment with experience developing and implementing operational systems.

  • Strong people management skills with 5+ years' experience in managing a team of people, and with a strong passion for developing teams.

  • Experience with rostering and resource planning of staff, working within defined payroll budgets.

  • Experience with establishing, delivering and measuring excellent service standards.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills required.

  • Guest-first mindset with high attention to detail and service quality.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-footfall environment, with a strong degree of agility.

  • Familiarity with performance metrics such as net promoter score (NPS) and guest satisfaction scores.

  • Experience working within an accomplished beverage program within a high-end cocktail environment preferred.
