The Department
This is a permanent, full-time role within a newly formed India-based extension of the UK Finance team, supporting the UK Pathways business and wider global finance function.
As part of this growing team, you will play a key role in establishing robust financial accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and delivering a high-quality month-end close and reporting cycle. The team works closely with UK and International colleagues within a global finance framework. You will collaborate with member of the Operational Finance team and report to the Finance Manager – Revenue. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new expansion in Bengaluru with the scope to influence processes, embed best practices, and support future scalability.
The Role
We are seeking a qualified accountant (CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent) to take end-to-end ownership of Revenue and Billing for the UK Pathways business.
This is a technically demanding and high-accountability role. You will be responsible for ensuring revenue is recognised accurately and in compliance with UK GAAP and US GAAP reporting requirements, maintaining the integrity of the receivables subledger, and ensuring all associated controls operate effectively.This role requires independent judgement, technical interpretation, proactive issue resolution, and ownership of outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition & Technical Accounting
Have ownership of revenue recognition for UK Pathways Colleges and UK Residences
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP revenue recognition principles and support US GAAP reporting adjustments
Perform and review monthly UK GAAP to US GAAP conversion adjustments, demonstrating understanding of framework differences
Act as the subject matter expert for revenue accounting within the India team Subledger & Billing Control
Own the integrity and control of the receivables subledger
Oversee invoicing flows from subledger to general ledger as part of month-end processes
Investigate discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
Ensure student accounts are maintained accurately in line with contractual terms and conditions
Strengthen controls around billing accuracy and revenue cut-off Month-End & Balance Sheet Ownership
Prepare and review month-end journals relating to revenue and associated areas
Take accountability for the preparation and active management of deferred income balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure reconciliations are robust, fully supported, and audit-ready
Deliver month-end outputs accurately and in line with agreed reporting timetables
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary contact for revenue and billing matters
Provide guidance and technical support to colleges and internal stakeholders
Communicate clearly and confidently across geographies
Partner with UK finance colleagues to ensure smooth operational delivery
Projects & Process Improvement
As part of the evolving India Finance function, this role will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including:
Driving process automation within revenue and billing workflows
Enhancing reporting through tools such as Power Query, Power BI or ERP-based automation
Supporting system improvements impacting revenue accounting
Strengthening documentation and control frameworks in line with SOX requirements
Identifying and implementing scalable improvements as transaction volumes grow
Being part of the future planned finance ledger change from Great Plains to Business Central
This role requires someone comfortable not only operating processes, but improving and redesigning them where necessary.
About You - Qualifications
Fully qualified accountant (CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent)
2+ years’ post-qualification experience in financial accounting or reporting Experience
Strong technical understanding of UK GAAP; exposure to US GAAP advantageous
Experience owning revenue accounting or a high-volume transactional accounting area
Experience working within structured month-end reporting environments
Prior experience in multinational or shared services environments desirable
Technical Skills
Advanced Excel skills (large dataset handling, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query advantageous)
Comfortable analysing high-volume billing data
Interest in automation and finance systems enhancement

Experience using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, workflow automation tools to improve reporting and close efficiency would be advantageous.
