The Retirement Income Consulting job leads the Retirement Income Consultants in recommending and implementing a variety of retirement income solutions designed to meet TIAA's clients lifetime income needs. The Director is responsible for setting goals and objectives for the team to achieve operational results, along with providing the team with resources for cross training in areas such as retirement planning, lifetime income, delivering advice, referrals, and client experience. This leader will be responsible for creating the vision, strategic planning, successful execution and integrating across the In Plan, Retirement and Wealth Management organizations to ensure success for TIAA's clients.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Monitors and coaches associate interactions with participant's questions on their retirement income options in the context of their retirement plan.
  • Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products and engagement, motivation, and development of team.
  • Monitors and coaches associate interactions based upon recommendations of lifetime income solutions utilizing the organization's suite of income-oriented tools.
  • Observes and supervises Retirement Income interactions with participants to ensure associates and clients have clear understanding of all advice and education provided.
  • Provides employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex retirement plan participant virtual interactions or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Ensures team members are equipped with thorough knowledge of tax and investment strategies to inform financial advice based on clients' financial needs and objectives.
  • Communicates internally with cross-business partnerships to develop and implement the organization's products and services to support clients and company initiatives.
  • Maintains and grows strong relationship with Institutional Plan Sponsors.
  • Identifies and implements the most appropriate processes and procedures for their team to best serve TIAA’s clients seeking lifetime income.
  • Liaises with appropriate partners within NCC, IAC, Client Relationships, Enterprise Analytics, Marketing, Regulatory Oversight, Compliance and Legal.
Educational Requirements
  • University (Degree) Preferred
Work Experience
  • 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred
FINRA Registrations
  • SRC Indicator: Series 7; Series 63; Series 65; Series 66; Series 24
Licenses and Certifications
  • Life and Health Insurance License (Resident State) - Multiple Issuers required
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work

Career Level

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial services industry

  • FINRA licensing required: Series 7 and Series 66, or an equivalent combination of Series 63 and Series 65

  • Valid Life and Health Insurance License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with a strong emphasis on retirement planning and services

  • Active FINRA Series 24 license preferred; candidates without this license must obtain it within 90 days of hire

  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching high-performing teams

  • Proven ability to develop and grow talent within an organization

  • Strong track record of identifying and cultivating high-potential talent

Base Pay Range: $129,000/yr - $178,000/yr

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
