Retail Security Manager (Regional – West, Central, East)

The Retail Security Manager will oversee and support the retail security program across a Region of North America and Canada.  The primary responsibility will be ensuring that all retail staff are informed and trained on security measures and ensuring compliance with local laws, regulations and MillerKnoll policies, while maintaining a safe and secure working environment for our associates and clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the primary regional security contact supporting daily security-related activities for MillerKnoll Retail locations across North America and Canada.
  • Serve as the main point of escalation for emergent security issues, responding to after-hours and weekend emergencies as required to support the retail teams in your region.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter support to field teams and store leadership.
  • Influence regional retail operations, HR and facilities teams regarding security polices, practices and compliance expectations.
  • Oversee the upkeep and accuracy of retail data in our systems and facilitate smooth communication between retail teams and our internal Global Security teams.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of security training programs and regional projects from beginning to end, including planning, execution and continuous improvement.
  • Provide annual in-person training to teams in security procedures, policies and systems for the retail locations in your region, including new store openings.
  • Conduct annual in-person audits at retail locations in your region, identifying potential threats, vulnerabilities, training needed and verifying the overall security conditions at the site.
  • Compile detailed written reporting around audit / store visit findings, including the development and follow-up action plans to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Provide virtual training/coaching in retail security/loss prevention procedures and best practices to retail teams in your region as needed or requested.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for process improvement.
  • Assist with internal investigations of problems such as associate theft and violations of retail security procedures.
  • Evaluate complex regional security challenges involving cross-functional variables.
  • Execute and monitor security activities and collaborate with partners to ensure completion.
  • Become extremely familiar with the facilities and occupants in your region including, but not limited to, organizational staff, emergency systems and procedures, alarm systems, card access systems and CCTV systems. 
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with the retail teams and other Retail Operations leaders in your region, as well as outside law enforcement agencies and retail loss prevention and asset protection communities.
  • Work closely with internal Global Security teams (Global Security Operations Center, Physical Security Systems team and other Global Security Managers) related to projects, work orders or other security requests for locations in your region.
  • Collaborate with other MillerKnoll teams (Human Resources, Retail Facilities, Real Estate, Retail Operations, IT, Legal/Compliance, Customer Experience).
  • Perform additional requirements as situations dictate in support of achieving business objectives.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Two years or more of experience in retail loss prevention, security or law enforcement required.
  • Advanced knowledge of retail operations/loss prevention and physical security programs.
  • Experience managing multi-site or multi-phase projects preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (50%+) and comfortable traveling alone and frequently.
  • Willingness to flex schedule based on the 24/7 demands of the global retail business.
  • Must be capable of representing MillerKnoll with professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Must have strong organizational, decision making and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate and negotiate.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be able to build long-term relationships with customers/partners.
  • Must have the ability to take initiative, respond to changing priorities and environments and accomplish goals.
  • Must be able to operate independently, making regional decisions related to security priorities, escalations and corrective actions.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication ability with strong emphasis on listening and proven ability to work through conflict.
  • Demonstrated high personal performance standards and the desire and ability to continuously learn.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and business ethics.
  • Possess knowledge of background with security technologies.
  • Strong computer and software skills required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
