The Role:

The Retail Planning team plays a critical role in shaping GM’s Sales, Service, and Marketing strategies by delivering data-driven insights that influence leadership decisions across North America. As a Retail Planning Analyst, you’ll transform complex data into clear, actionable recommendations, identify emerging market trends, and lead strategic projects that drive business growth. This is an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment and make a measurable impact on GM’s retail strategy.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

Market Insights & Analysis

  • Analyze U.S. automotive market trends and competitive performance to uncover emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Leverage diverse data sources to monitor consumer behavior and inform proactive strategies that drive growth and mitigate challenges.

Strategic Insights Development

  • Transform complex data into clear, actionable insights that influence leadership decisions and cross-functional strategies.
  • Design and deliver dashboards, reports, and executive presentations that guide go-to-market plans and optimize business outcomes.

Special Projects & Initiatives

  • Lead high-impact projects supporting sales, spending, and profitability objectives across GM’s retail network.
  • Develop analytics to evaluate incentive program effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Respond to senior leadership requests with timely, data-driven analyses on industry trends, share performance, and strategic priorities.
  • Synthesize insights into compelling narratives with clear business implications to drive informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to co-develop analysis and build strong stakeholder relationships that enhance project impact.

Your Skills and Abilities (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive market analysis, incentives, or related disciplines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), with a proven ability to independently generate accurate, efficient reports.
  • Strong automotive acumen with advanced knowledge of major industry data sources (e.g., PIN, POLK, IHS, CVI).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop strategic solutions for complex, non-standard challenges.
  • Polished communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Collaborative mindset and relationship-building ability, fostering strong partnerships across functions and organizational levels.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive market analysis, incentives, or related disciplines.
