Respiratory Therapy Tech, Student PRN 

Shift: PRN, 2nd Shift 

Unit Description: 

The Baptist Health Respiratory Care department helps patients breathe better and live healthier. Our expert team provides personalized care and advanced treatments for conditions like asthma and COPD. We offer comprehensive pulmonary function testing, advanced ventilator management, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, asthma and COPD education and management, and 24/7 emergency respiratory care. Our dedicated professionals deliver high-quality, compassionate care using state-of-the-art treatment plans.  

Position Overview: 

The Respiratory Therapy Tech Student assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions. This includes the delivery of medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by a provider. The Respiratory Therapy Tech Student assists in departmental operations by assisting with supplies and equipment management. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities [within student scope] 

  • Assesses the appropriateness of therapy and makes recommendations. 

  • Performs, assesses, and instructs the effective administration of oxygen, aerosol medications, humidification, suctioning, and chest physiotherapy. 

  • Provides patient/family education concerning the safe and effective use of equipment where applicable. Performs additional duties as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Highschool/GED 

  • Must be a student licensed by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care as a limited License Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Kentucky and in accordance with the provisions of KRS chapter 314A. 

  • Must maintain active BLS training. [Within 30 days of hire]
