Huron’s Resource Management (RM) team members are trusted strategic advisors to our business leaders, delivering solutions that balance the needs of our people, our company and our clients. The team delivers high quality staffing solutions that ensures proper alignment of resources to projects, optimizes utilization and supports career development for employees. We provide unique perspectives through data-informed insights and foster deep, collaborative and consultative relationships with the stakeholders we engage. The Resource Management team serves as the enterprise owners for workforce strategy, capacity planning, utilization optimization, and resourcing governance across all business units.
Specifically, the Resource Management Business Strategy Lead provides enterprise strategic direction and oversight for a team of Resource Management professionals that manage project staffing, resource allocation/planning, and utilization management. The role oversees key business functions associated with managing the supply and demand of consultants for client engagements.
Key to success in this role is one’s ability to establish and maintain credibility with executive and practice leaders, develop and maintain a deep understanding of business offerings, and effectively communicate at all levels throughout the organization. This position reports to the Corporate Vice President (CVP) of Resource Management and has direct supervisory responsibility for all Resource Management Strategy Leads. This position interacts directly with senior business leaders, Human Capital, Operations, IT and Procurement personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop RM Strategy Leads (Managers) enterprise-wide, setting priorities, coaching performance, and ensuring consistent service delivery, tools, and ways of working across business units, industries, capabilities, and geographies
- Translate CVP priorities into clear operating rhythms and execution plans (cadence of leadership updates, staffing governance, forecasting routines, and cross-team alignment forums)
- Own demand and capacity governance across the enterprise, establishing standards for forecasting inputs, assumptions, variance review, and decision rights; define required business unit inputs and drive adoption of enterprise-level workforce plans across business units
- Oversee enterprise utilization management and optimization efforts, partnering with RM Strategy Leads and business leadership to identify root causes, improve outcomes, and drive accountability
- Provide executive advisory support to the CVP and enterprise business leaders (industry, capability, and operations leaders) on resourcing strategy, trade-offs, and decisions that grow revenue, margin and people
- Coordinate cross-business-unit, cross-capability, and cross-geography staffing for integrated deals and priority initiatives; remove roadblocks and resolve escalations that exceed Manager-level authority
- Champion responsible AI-enabled ways of working within RM (decision support with human review / validation and clear guardrails), partnering with the RM Operations, Technology & Data COE to prioritize use cases for scalable process and technology improvements that improve insights, quality, and speed
- Ensure enterprise reporting and insights are standardized and actionable (demand, capacity, utilization, pipeline, bench, skills), including common definitions/metrics and adoption in leadership routines
- Drive enterprise strategic workforce planning, setting direction in partnership with Human Capital, Talent Acquisition, and Contingent Workforce teams, and aligning total-talent solutions (FTE, contractors, SMEs) to enterprise growth and delivery strategy
- Build and maintain a strong understanding of Huron’s offerings and delivery models across all business units; enable RM Strategy Leads with enterprise guidance, best practices, and escalation paths to deliver high-quality staffing outcomes
- Analyze enterprise-wide data related to headcount, confirmed work, backlog, and sales pipeline to identify trends, surface risks/opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations to senior business leadership
- Progressively absorb planning and optimization responsibilities from individual business units to increase consistency, scale, and decision quality as enterprise workforce strategy and capacity capabilities mature
- Cultivate and strengthen the RM organization through talent development, recruiting support, onboarding, and training initiatives; promote a consistent culture of collaboration and accountability
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality on sensitive employment matters, performance history, and business/financial information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Vice President of Resource Management in support of enterprise RM objectives
Qualifications:

- Huron requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to this position or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in resource management, business operations, workforce planning, or human capital roles within a professional services environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and coaching people, including managers and leaders with responsibility for others
- Proven experience navigating and leading within a highly matrixed, complex organization, influencing across business units, functions, and senior stakeholders without direct authority
- Demonstrated business acumen with a deep understanding of the financial, operational, and people drivers of performance in a professional services organization, including margin, growth, utilization, and capacity tradeoffs
- Proven ability to assess, redesign, and scale enterprise processes and systems, driving adoption across a matrixed organization to improve consistency, efficiency, and decision quality
- Experience leveraging AI‑enabled tools and data‑driven insights to support enterprise decision‑making, with appropriate human oversight, validation, and responsible data handling
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships quickly at all levels of the organization
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with comfort presenting complex topics to executive audiences
- Strong organizational discipline and attention to detail, with the ability to design operating rhythms, frameworks, and systems that support complex, cross‑enterprise work
- Ability to think critically and strategically to resolve problems with creative, practical, and effective solutions
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, including intermediate to advanced data analysis and aggregation techniques
- Experience translating business and operational needs into scalable reporting, analytics, automation, and technology requirements, with appropriate governance and change management
- Experience with Power BI, Visio, Smartsheet, and SharePoint is preferred, but not required
- Ability to work independently and remain self‑directed while also being an exceptional collaborator in cross‑functional environments
- Comfort operating in a dynamic setting, with the ability to manage multiple, time‑sensitive priorities concurrently
- Core working hours aligned to the Central Time Zone are required

The estimated base salary range for this job is $165,000-$230,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $214,500-$299,000. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
