Job Description

The ICP‑MS Researcher plays a key role in advancing both short‑term development projects and mid‑ to long‑term foundational research. This role contributes to active new product projects, while also generating research seeds that will drive Agilent’s competitiveness over the next 5–10 years.

  • Conduct mid‑ to long‑term technology research to improve ICP‑MS performance (sensitivity, background, interference removal, etc.)
  • Explore and develop new concepts and technologies leveraging the existing technologies
  • Provide specialized technical support for NPI projects
  • Propose and test new technologies to enhance analytical performance and workflow efficiency for semiconductor applications
  • Analyze complex ICP‑MS phenomena and develop effective solutions based on instrument physics and measurement principles
  • Maintain and expand specialized knowledge to strengthen the organization’s long‑term research capability
  • Collaborate with marketing team to create product definition and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other hardware and software engineers to create real products.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team for more revenue and better yield.
  • Collaborate with the global field team for more orders and fixing issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent in physics, applied physics, plasma science, analytical chemistry and material science
  • Strong expertise in chemical analytical products, plasma physics, and mass spectrometry
  • 5+ years of relevant research or development experience
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze complex data, and derive insights
  • Experience with semiconductor‑related ultra‑trace analysis is a plus
  • Fluency in Japanese communication is required
  • Strong English communication skills are highly desirable, due to frequent collaboration with global R&D, marketing, and support teams
  • Strong teamwork and cross‑functional communication skills
  • Typically, at least 8+ years relevant experience for entry to this level

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
