Summary:

The laboratory of Dr. Megan Radyk in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is in search of a candidate to support basic and translational research in pancreatic cancer. The lab aims to uncover how metabolic changes control the earliest steps of cancer formation, with the long-term goal of identifying new strategies for cancer detection and prevention. The lab uses primary cell culture, mouse models, clinically relevant samples, transcriptomics, and metabolomics to determine the mechanisms of pancreatic cancer initiation, focusing on cell communication and competition.

The ideal candidate will be organized, reliable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will also have strong communication and time management skills. In addition to general research duties, it is expected that the candidate will help with administrative support and daily lab operations, including reagent and consumable inventory, ordering, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The candidate will also maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and assist in training other lab personnel on various research techniques. The pay range for the Research Technologist position is $50,456 - $63,986 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience
1. Master’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or scientific discipline and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a laboratory setting.

NOTE:
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have:

1. Strong organization, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills.

2. Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data.

3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

4. Proficiency with standard computer software (Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism) and willing to learn new programs as needed.

5. Experience with molecular cell biology, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, qPCR, mammalian cell culture, and microscopy.

6. Experience with mouse husbandry and handling.
