Position Summary:
The Sensory and Social Brain Mechanisms Lab is looking for an experienced research technician.
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the research technician will plan and execute projects and experiments in the lab.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform marmoset training and handling
Conduct behavioral recordings (videos and vocalization recordings)
Assist in MRI data collection
Participate in surgical procedures, anesthetized sessions, and marmoset perfusion for brain collection
Perform immunohistochemistry
Additional duties:
Integrate, teach and train new lab members on procedures and equipment of the lab.
Assist in writing and renewing animal use protocols, ensure safety and compliance of the lab (protocols and EHS)
Manage purchase and storage (inventory, forecast expenses for consumables, monitor expiration date)
Maintain equipment (cryostat, BrainSight, freezer, solutions, reagents, etc.)
Coordinate lab procedures and plannings
Keep detailed records of performance and health for each animal
Write data report and discuss results in lab meetings
Assist Animal Health Technicians when needed.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Must have an Undergraduate Degree (Biology or Sciences)
Must have a minimum of 2 years of research experience working with common marmosets
Experience in marmoset perfusion, brain collection and immunohistochemistry is required
Must have a validated training on using positive reinforcement learning with marmosets
Must be able to handle and hold marmosets with ease
Must have experience performing MRI with marmosets
Must be able to perform procedures on marmosets including injections, intubation, and blood sampling
Must have experience in histology including immunofluorescence
Must have experience in marmoset surgery, including using the BrainSight system for intracranial injection
