Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We Require

  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, or clerical duties
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for one year of the required experience

We Also Value

  • Associate’s degree in business administration or job-related experience
  • Three or more years of experience performing office, administrative, or clerical duties

Job Contributions

  • Research and resolve complex taxpayers’ complaints; define and solve problems; implement corrections to property taxes utilizing the Assessor’s, Recorder’s, and Treasurer’s databases
  • Advise potential tax lien buyers of the required information
  • Prepare MVD clearance letters for Mobile Home releases
  • Analyze in detail property tax accounts for proper taxes, classification, special district assessments, exemptions, and communicate findings to taxpayers
  • Maintain knowledge of secured and unsecured taxes, and tax liens, including assignments, sub-tax, redemptions, etc.
  • Assist in the yearly review of tax bills, verifying correct data and calculations
  • Prepare payer information for delinquent tax accounts
  • Research taxpayer's correspondence regarding their property taxes
  • Approve redemption payments for tax liens
  • Maintain an understanding of the Arizona State Revised Statutes and applies them to job duties
  • Assist taxpayers in person, by phone, or with written correspondence
  • Maintain knowledge regarding tax liens (i.e., assignments, sub-tax, and redemptions)
  • Work with taxpayers to resolve property tax issues
  • Assist lien holders with sub-taxing on lobby computers
  • Communicate information to supervisors, taxpayers, and fellow employees in an effective, courteous manner
  • Interact with other County departments, including the Assessor’s Office, and STAR Contact Center
  • Assist the Tax Services Supervisor and the Business Operations Team as needed
  • Assist in the reconciliation and posting of tax payments made online through our ePayment vendors
  • Other special projects as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Standard office work environment, and most work will be with others on a collaborative basis (e.g., external and internal customers)
  • Must have manual dexterity of hands and body to operate office equipment
  • Must be able to bend and lift/carry up to 20 pounds and sit/stand for long periods of time
