The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Department of Research has an exciting full time opportunity for a Research Ophthalmic Imager 2 in Miami, Florida.
The Research Ophthalmic Imager 2 performs a wide array of diagnostic testing based upon study specific imaging protocols in compliance with the Clinical Research Services Unit and department standards.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical record/PACS platform.
Ensures all equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.
Coordinates routine activities of clinical studies including data collection and maintenance.
Assists in observing and informing the PI/Supervisor of adverse events, including those reported by study participants.
Identifies, reports, and helps problem solve protocol deviations and unanticipated occurrences.
Performs moderate to complex research tests/ experiments and adapts procedures for quality improvement under supervision.
Understands and follows technical instructions for operating clinical research equipment, problem solves when operational failures occur.
Follows the appropriate fundamental requirements of all international, national, and local regulatory bodies.
Maintains requisite skills and mandatory training in safety, equality, responsible conduct of research, continuing education, and research competencies.
Certifies and performs all clinical research imaging such as digital fluorescein and ICG angiography, color fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, microperimetry, slit lamp, and gonio photography.
Additional exams such as Humphrey visual field testing, keratometry, axial eye length measurements and IOL calculations may be required to be performed as well as any modality requested by a sponsor or principal investigator.
Acquires and maintains certification through multiple reading centers by following study imaging protocol instructions.
Masks and prepares various digital files to be submitted through online portals, upload clients and cloud-based file sharing systems.
Acquires and maintains certification of all imaging equipment to be used in clinical research.
Notifies reading centers of any software upgrades.
Performs various maintenance on machines such as cleaning lenses, air filters and internal components.
Contacts vendors when research imaging devices are not functioning to work towards a solution.
Maintains and updates records of all certified devices and provides sponsors and coordinators with site assessment information.
Assists in writing imaging protocols for investigator sponsored trials.
Maintains good relationships with reading centers and sponsors and addresses deviations and queries in a timely manner.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
OCT-C and or CRA Certifications
