Job Summary
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of preventable death among women worldwide accounting for 32% of their deaths. Most premature mortality is attributable to lack of screening and delay in diagnosis. Yet, screening and diagnosing CVD amongst postpartum women in primary health care settings (where women go to see family doctor/nurse practitioner) remains challenging. The research manager will work with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Rubee Dev, to support her program of research in optimizing postpartum women’s cardiovascular health. The preliminary phase of the study will be mainly to develop and validate a CVD risk prediction model. This CVD risk prediction model once developed and validated will be translated into web-based risk prediction tool that can be implemented in the routine primary health care settings.

A highly motivated, experienced Research Manager (RM) is needed for a program of research broadly directed at promoting postpartum women’s cardiovascular health. The primary focus of this position will be as a RM to support a series of coordinated projects focused on (a) developing and validation CVD risk prediction model, (b) examining the feasibility and acceptability of the risk prediction tool, and (c) examining the effectiveness of implementing tool in the primary care settings. This 1-year position (with the possibility of extension) involves the collaboration of researchers, frontline care providers (e.g., physicians, nurses), clinical specialists (cardiologists), patients and families. The RM will be responsible for the overall planning, management, and coordination of coordinated studies related to this program of research. In addition, the RM will contribute to the planning and management of other studies led by the research team focusing on promotion of cardiovascular health.
