Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs and oversees research studies, experiments, and laboratory processes, including experimental design support, data collection, and workflow coordination.
Supervises laboratory personnel, including training, scheduling, and oversight of daily activities to ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and safety procedures.
Manages laboratory operations, including procurement, inventory systems, reagent tracking, and equipment maintenance.
Oversees mouse colony management, including breeding strategies, genotyping workflows, colony tracking, and coordination with animal care facilities.
Coordinates and supports in vivo experimental studies, including cohort organization, treatment schedules, and tissue collection workflows.
Oversees acquisition, processing, storage, and tracking of human biospecimens, including blood and tissue samples, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, including IACUC, IRB, biosafety, and laboratory safety standards.
Performs and/or supervises laboratory techniques, including flow cytometry, cell culture, molecular biology assays (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR), and preparation of samples for downstream analyses.
Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory documentation systems.
Maintains laboratory data systems, including experimental data organization, sample tracking databases, and protocol repositories.
Oversees laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
Assists with coordination of laboratory meetings, project timelines, and collaborative activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
