Research Fellow (Centre for Research in Child Development) [NIE]

NTU Main Campus, Singapore Full time

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Fellow on a 12-month contract at the Centre for Research in Child Development.

Project Introduction:

The Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD) is a leading research centre dedicated to advancing understanding of child development and early education. CRCD conducts multi-project research to generate high-quality evidence that informs policy, practice, and innovation in the early childhood sector.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to support Centre Management and Education Research Scientists in strategic research development, programme-level integration, synthesis, dissemination, and collaboration activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to centre-wide research outputs, capacity-building initiatives, and international collaborations in a high-impact research environment.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in competitive research grant projects, research communication or international collaborative projects is highly desirable. Experience with AI-assisted research tools and facilitating writing workshops, and a strong publication record, will be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with excellent writing ability and the capacity to integrate complex, multi-project outputs into coherent narratives.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks while working effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct horizon scanning on emerging developments (e.g., AI in education, new early childhood risks, and international trends) and synthesise their implications for CRCD’s research directions, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
  • Integrate project-level inputs and draft centre-level programme narratives, tranche-funding reviews and progress reports, and forward-planning documents (e.g., research plans and funding proposals).
  • Plan and draft cross-project analyses, synthesis sections, and learning summaries to disseminate CRCD research findings through publications and events (e.g., journal sections, pre-conference sessions, symposia, and learning exchanges).
  • Support Education Research Scientists in drafting research proposals and publications, and co-plan and facilitate capacity-building activities to strengthen centre-wide research outputs.
  • Follow up on collaboration leads initiated by Centre Management and liaise with international and strategic partners to clarify scope, align interests and develop collaboration concepts into workable engagements.
  • Explore, pilot and document technology-enabled research processes (e.g., AI-assisted literature scanning and synthesis tools), and support Centre Management in developing improved workflows to enhance CRCD’s research efficiency.
  • Any other research-related responsibilities assigned by the Principal Investigator or Centre Management.
