Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. We are looking for a Engineer for supporting the development, testing, and validation of battery stacks and associated test rigs. The role focuses on developing test rig, electrical design, instrumentation, and performance testing to enable reliable stack characterization and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support development and electrical integration of battery stacks for laboratory and pilot-scale systems

  • Design, assemble, and maintain electrical test rigs for stack performance, durability, and safety testing

  • Conduct stack testing including OCV measurement, charge–discharge cycling, and performance analysis

  • Prepare and execute test procedures, record data, and generate detailed test and validation reports

  • Design and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts for stack test setups

  • Select, install, and calibrate sensors for voltage, current, temperature, pressure, and flow monitoring

  • Support FAT activities related to stack test rigs and subsystem validation

  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and integration issues during stack testing

  • Support quality processes including QC, IPQC, and NCMR related to stack components and test setups

  • Collaborate with R&D, mechanical, and controls teams to improve stack design and test methodologies

  • Support commissioning and operation of stack test rigs in lab and pilot environments

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 1–3 years of experience in battery stack testing, R&D labs, or electrical test systems

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Hands-on experience with electrical test rigs, instrumentation, and power supplies

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for test rig design and  electrical for schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Knowledge of flow  battery systems, power electronics, and control systems

  • Familiarity with PLCs, automation, and industrial sensors is an advantage

  • Strong documentation, testing discipline, and problem-solving skills
