Position Description: This is an opportunity for highly motivated, independent, and innovative individuals to combine aquatic invertebrate biology and open technologies in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include one or more of following duties: (1) independent research and process development for germplasm cryopreservation, reproductive physiology of aquatic invertebrates; (2) collaboration with engineers and designers to produce hardware devices for germplasm preservation; (3) close coordination for repository development with national stock centers and groups that provide aquatic invertebrates research; (4) development of manuscripts and presentations to disseminate information; (5) animal husbandry of aquatic invertebrates, or (6) coordination of outreach efforts for community development. Work after hours including weekends may be required periodically. Familiarity with aquatic invertebrates and reproductive biology is strongly preferred. Experience with CAD, 3-D printing, and open hardware is preferred including a strong desire for intersectoral collaboration.
