We are looking for a Research Associate to support research and development activities in power electronics and energy systems. The role involves designing, developing, and testing advanced power electronic converters and control systems for applications such as renewable energy integration, energy storage, and smart grids. The Research Associate will also contribute to research proposal preparation, project execution, and dissemination of research outcomes.
The Research Associate will conduct research in power electronics for next-generation sustainable energy systems. The role involves the design, modelling, control, and experimental validation of advanced power electronic converters for applications such as renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, and grid-connected power systems. The successful candidate will develop simulation models, design and build laboratory prototypes, and perform experimental testing and analysis. The Research Associate will also prepare technical reports, contribute to high-quality journal and conference publications, and support research proposal development. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with faculty members, graduate students, and industry partners on cutting-edge power electronics technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research and development in power electronics converters, control, and energy systems.
Design, simulate, and develop power electronic converter prototypes and associated control algorithms.
Perform experimental testing, data analysis, and performance evaluation of power electronic systems.
Develop simulation models using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or PSCAD.
Support the design, integration, and testing of laboratory prototypes and hardware setups.
Contribute to research proposal preparation, including literature review, technical writing, and development of project ideas.
Assist in technical reporting, documentation, and publication of research outcomes in journals and conferences.
Collaborate with research team members, students, and industry partners.
Support supervision of graduate students and research assistants when required.
Ensure proper laboratory safety practices and equipment maintenance.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
Strong background in power electronics, converter design, and control systems.
Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, or equivalent.
Experience in hardware prototyping, testing, and laboratory experimentation is preferred.
Prior experience in research proposal writing or technical grant preparation is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
Good technical writing and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple research tasks and deadlines.
Strong interest in renewable energy systems, power electronics, and sustainable energy technologies.
