The Team:

The Research Assistant provides broad support to the Corporate Ratings team across credit and related analytical work. The role partners closely with Senior Analysts to support surveillance and rating activities, help prepare materials for rating committees, and keep key databases and trackers accurate and up to date.

Impact & Responsibilities

Impact: This role supports the team’s rating activities by producing accurate, timely, and well-structured analysis that informs committee decisions and external publications.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Input financial statements, run quality checks, and help build forecasts and simple scenario analyses.

  • Maintain well-organized models and supporting documentation, with strong version control and clear assumptions.

  • Conduct structured research on industries, issuers, and macroeconomic developments; summarize findings clearly for the team.

  • Assemble relevant financial, technical, and other data needed for rating activities.

  • Prepare and update spreadsheets, charts, and presentations for Senior Analysts, with a strong focus on accuracy, formatting, and consistency.

  • Support Senior Analysts during the analytical process by tracking open items, deadlines, and next steps.

  • Spot inconsistencies, flag potential issues early, and improve the quality of outputs.

  • Work constructively with others, contribute beyond assigned tasks when needed, and actively participate in team discussions.

  • Proactively provide support to the team, ask thoughtful questions, and suggest practical improvements to templates/processes.

  • Adaptability: Stay resourceful and solution-oriented when priorities shift or information changes.

  • Share updates clearly, raise risks early, and tailor messages to the audience (e.g., analysts vs. wider stakeholders).

  • Think “outside the box” to improve how information is gathered, organized, or presented (while staying within guidelines).

  • Handle information responsibly and follow policies and controls, especially where confidentiality and market sensitivity apply.

  • Comply with quality standards and compliance policies; maintain confidentiality and appropriate information handling.

  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level typically has 0-2 years of relevant experience within financial institution, accounting, consulting, or large corporation. Capital Markets exposure is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).

  • Strong written and verbal English (full business proficiency).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Team/goal orientation (understands team goals and how work contributes).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Proactive and collaborative working style.

  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.

  • Knowledge of financial modelling and forecasting (highly valued).

  • Capital Markets exposure.
