About the Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation
The RMIT University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CCSRI) has been established in 2020 within the College of Business and Law. The focus of CCSRI to develop multi-disciplinary research relating to the organisational, human and technology aspects of Cyber Security. The mission of the RMIT University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CCSRI) is to be acknowledged as a world-class research centre in multi-disciplinary Cyber Security research and to be acknowledged by Australian and overseas industry and government as a leading source of knowledge and expertise in multi-disciplinary Cyber Security research.
Position Overview
Activities of this casual role may include contributing to contribute to one or more of the following research streams:
•Cyber Security – Research into threat landscapes, vulnerability assessment, critical infrastructure protection, cyber resilience frameworks, and incident response strategies.
•Technology – Investigation of emerging and disruptive technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, and their security implications for organisations and society.
•Misinformation – Analysis of the creation, spread, and impact of false or inaccurate information in digital environments, including platform dynamics and cognitive factors.
• Disinformation – Research into deliberate, state-sponsored, or coordinated campaigns to manipulate public discourse, with focus on detection methodologies and attribution techniques.
• Policy – Examination of domestic and international policy frameworks related to cyber security, digital governance, information integrity, and critical infrastructure regulation.
Our ideal candidate will have:
• Postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD candidature/completion) in cyber security, information technology, political science, international relations, communications.
• Demonstrated research experience.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated interest in any of the research focus areas: cyber security, technology, misinformation, disinformation and/or policy.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with data bases and reference management tools.
