Position Summary:
Summer Research Assistant Position. The exact schedule is flexible, as long as the 193h of work are fulfilled.
The summer undergraduate research assistant will support a project on how open banking affects household deposit behavior, bank competition, and financial stability in Canada, with particular attention to Québec. The RA will collect and archive posted deposit-rate and account-term data from bank websites, help build and maintain reproducible code to gather and clean public data from sources such as OSFI and the Bank of Canada, merge and validate datasets, and document sources, definitions, and code so that the resulting database is auditable and replicable. Depending on progress, the RA may also assist with survey preparation, descriptive analysis, and other empirical tasks related to the project
Qualifications:
Applicants should be undergraduate students in economics, finance, statistics, data science, computer science, or a related field, with strong attention to detail and a serious interest in empirical research. Applicants should be comfortable working with data and has some experience in either R/Stata/Python/Julia.
The position requires strong organizational skills, care in handling data accurately, and the ability to work independently on structured tasks. Coursework in econometrics, statistics, or programming is helpful, but the main qualities sought are reliability, precision, and intellectual curiosity.
