Minimum Requirements:

Research Assistant II: Associate’s degree in a related field and one (1) or more years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 2 (Hourly)

Research Assistant III: Associate's Degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 3 (Hourly)

Position Description:

A Research Technician II or III position is available in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science/Envirome Institute at the University of Louisville. The position will be filled at the level as determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate.  This position will be in the lab of Helen Collins, Ph.D., which has a focus on women’s cardiovascular health and resilience. Research will focus on understanding how changes in metabolism in the female heart influence cardiac remodeling and contribute to overall cardiovascular health. Experience that includes one or more of the following: animal handling, animal breeding, genotyping, PCR, western blotting, or cell culture, is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in ongoing studies in the laboratory

  • Help maintain study animals

  • Prepare and analyze biological samples

  • Perform basic biochemical assays and data analyses

  • Regularly present and communicate findings

  • Keep detailed notes in Laboratory notebook

  • Proficiency in Microsoft use

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in at least one or more of the following: animal handling, animal breeding, genotyping, PCR, western blotting, or cell culture.

  • Proficient in MS outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Target Compensation Maximum:

$25.39

Target Compensation Minimum:

$16.93

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
