The Organo-Mineral Group (OMG) within the Asian School of the Environment (ASE) is seeking a Research Assistant. This position is part of a Nanyang Assistant Professor startup grant. The Research Assistant will conduct fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist setting up new laboratory infrastructure
Assist with coordinating laboratory renovation
Preparation of safety documentation
Laboratory analysis (HPLC, UV-Vis)
Wet chemical handling including with dangerous chemicals such as hydrofluoric and hydrochloric acids
Logistics and preparation for field work
Possible field work in foreign countries (e.g., Philippines) for collecting environmental samples (sediment)
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Environmental Science or related field
Talent for handling administrative tasks and communication with vendors
Preferably at least 1 year of relevant experiences in similar role / technical hands-on experience in laboratory
Familiarity with environmental chemistry and fieldwork
Proficiency in wet chemical handling, analytical chemistry
Competent in communication, fieldwork and logistics
Ability to work independently/ develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details/ excellent organizational/ time management and interpersonal skills
