An Internship with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) allows you to be part of the foundation that supports Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies nationwide. We seek to improve health care quality, affordability and accessibility for all Americans, and we want you to join the team! Our Summer Internships Include: 10 week paid program during the Summer Challenging real-world, hands-on projects. Mentoring from BCBSA Professionals. Performance Evaluation Process & Presentations. Volunteer Activity, Planned Social Outings and Networking Events. This internship is located in Chicago, IL. This is a hybrid position with 3-4 days in-office.
At the end of 10 weeks, the intern will have conducted a nationwide market and contract assessment of the Medicaid and duals line of business. This is a significant research task, they will narrow down on 2 topics that have the most ability for BCBS Systemwide action. They will then develop resources on these two topics that go to our BCBS Plans to operationalize internally or use to engage their state.
They will emerge with a data compilation and the delivery of two defined products that are new to the Association, have been demanded by our clients.
Our intern is expected to produce materials that go in front of our BCBS Plan clients. Our team is committed to working with the intern so that they go all the way from researching a topic to delivering a client-ready product that can be listed as an accomplishment.
For example, we worked extensively with 2025 intern to shape the concept of a Medicaid Competitive Intelligence Platform. She ultimately designed and delivered the full concept and wireframe for the platform. The Platform was just launched BCBS System wide.
Finally, we are also committed to our intern's growth and development. We will make introductions around the Association and invest in their learning both soft and hard skills. The intern will also be encouraged to share their skills and ideas- this team is a big believer in the innovation that comes from different generations contributing their skills and vision. Last year, our 2025 intern was a valued team member and was awarded Intern of the Year at her university.
