You will coordinate the operations of the function responsible for strategy, business development and growth, leading to the not only the success of the company but also the Defence capability of our nation.
You will plan, organise, manage and ensure the delivery of compelling bids and offers, meaningful industry engagement and Australian Industry Capability and ensure the team are trained, developed, certified and ready to solve the customer’s problems in novel and efficient ways.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute as a key leader in the R&C team and act as the delegate for the Chief of R&C and Head of R&C as required.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of strategies designed to support delivery and growth and to ensure alignment of people, processes, policies, and resources.
- In conjunction with Raytheon and RTX counterparts, maintain and enhance R&C processes and supporting enablers to support opportunity development in the Australian context.
- Coordinate and ensure compliance of captures (including bids / offer generation and submission) in accordance with the company capture operations, lifecycle program management and business development policies, procedures, processes. This includes coordination of reviews, approval gates and submission guidelines.
- Provide operational management to capture manager resources to support opportunities in accordance with schedules.
- Engage and collaborate with peers and other leaders across R&C, Operations, and the broader organisation to develop and deliver strategic operational plans, as well as targeted goals, and objectives specifically related to opportunities in both new and existing programs across the business.
- Manage the organisation’s Industry Engagement and Australian Industry Capability arrangements supporting growth.
- Plan, coordinate and ensure delivery of required R&C team and capture support training, competence assessments and professional development in alignment with parent company frameworks.
- Define, implement and report against key performance metrics and indicators for the R&C function
- Lead coordination activities in support of targeted opportunity analysis, including inputs to inform updates to the company strategy, competitive analysis activities and environmental assessments.
- Manage the R&C Function budget planning, allocation, operation and reporting.
- Meet business reporting and review requirements and ensure compliance with business audit and investigation outcomes.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience making recommendations and implementing new processes, policies, standards, or operational plans in support of business strategies.
- Previous experience and responsibility for making significant improvements to entire processes or systems.
- Ability to leverage past experience and/or in-depth understanding of leading practices in the industry / area of specialty to improve the competitive position of the organisation.
- Proven experience in managing business development / growth activities
- A very strong understanding of the Australian Defence environment, Commonwealth processes and the Australian Defence industry environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply market and competitive intelligence, and company knowledge to optimise strategic positioning.
- Ability to manage and build key business relationships, identify key customers and stakeholders within networks and effectively establish and maintain ongoing networks/relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Requires a University Degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience (when a University Degree is held).
- Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead operational teams in captures and the function.
- Experience in the defence or aerospace industry sectors.
- Significant expertise in relevant domain concepts and technology.
- Proven experience in strategy development in an Industry environment.
