What You’ll Be Doing
As a Repair and Overhaul Apprentice, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing aircraft components, ensuring they’re ready for flight. Your tasks will include:

  • Using specialised tools and equipment to repair and overhaul aircraft parts and assemblies.
  • Working with programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to manage tasks and documentation.
  • Following assigned tasks with guidance from your mentor or supervisor.
  • Collaborating with other departments to meet strict aviation deadlines.
  • Completing college coursework with full support when needed.
  • Sharing ideas, asking questions, and working closely with your team to solve challenges.
  • Keeping your workspace clean, organised, and safe while promoting teamwork.

You’ll also rotate through different areas of the business to gain wide-ranging skills and experience in aviation repair and overhaul.

You don’t need to be an expert yet - we’ll help you get there! But here’s what will set you up for success:

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools (like wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers).
  • Strong communication skills - written and spoken - are essential for teamwork and aviation safety protocols.
  • A love for problem-solving and troubleshooting aircraft components.
  • Confidence using computers and bespoke software.
  • Good time-management and organisational skills to meet deadlines.
  • A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and pride in your work.
  • Flexibility to adapt, work independently, or collaborate with a team.

Your Qualifications

  • Education: SVQ Level 2/SCQF Level 5 in Performing Engineering Operations (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Any background in engineering, mechanics, or technical work (especially aviation) is a bonus - but not required.
  • Driving License: Preferred, but not essential.

Your Flight Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday: 7.42am – 4.00pm
  • Friday: 7.42am – 1.54pm
  • One day a week at Ayrshire College (Kilmarnock Campus) during term time to focus on your studies.
