SUMMARY
The following is a position description for Mechanical Engineer I.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance departments for mechanical equipment in operating units.
2. Develop and maintain reliability improvement / tracking programs for critical assets for mechanical equipment in operating units.
3. Serve as member of cross-functional teams to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve reliability.
4. Assist in root cause failure analysis on critical equipment failures Perform component failure analysis as required.
5. Assist in the development of equipment repair strategies and detailed plans in accordance with internal standards, RAGAGEP, codes, and regulatory requirements.
6. Participate on capital project teams and assist in development of specifications and supporting detail design efforts. Review project design packages for proper design regarding reliability, application and maintenance.
7. Assist in the development and monitoring of the preventative maintenance program.
8. Develop / Review / Maintain equipment specifications as related to purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance/repairs.
9. Develop and implement alterations and revisions to mechanical equipment
to continuously improve business performance of the operating units.
10. Assist department clerk in maintaining mechanical equipment files by reviewing changes to files based on Management of Change Process and new installations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
• A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
• B.S. Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2 years with some internship experience.
• Familiar with ASME and API codes on pressure vessels, piping, boilers, and rotating equipment; knowledge of repair techniques for fixed equipment and familiar with components and overhaul of rotating equipment typical to operating plants; excellent oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job is performed mainly in a control room or office setting. Physical presence and predictable attendance required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires response to
audible emergency alarms inside of the plant. Employee must be able to evacuate when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
