THE ROLE
Using their discretion and judgement, works with the Senior Managing Director and other regional Managing Directors’ in developing, implementing, communicating and monitoring sales strategy for their assigned region.
Depending on region or location, the role may include deeper product‑focused coverage and client engagement in partnership with Relationship Managers to support local market and client needs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Works with Managing Director to drive, develop and implement sales strategies, which align with MFS company strategy.
Monitors industry trends, advises on company product development and develops a long-term strategy for marketing MFS' investment management to institutions to achieve sales goals. Keeps client informed of products and enhancements within MFS and relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.
This will include designing and implementing a business plan every year.
Builds and maintains a portfolio of opportunities in MFS fixed income, equity and other investment strategies from institutions within their allocated region. Arranges and hosts relevant and appropriate travel in support of these goals.
Participates directly in client meetings alongside Relationship Managers, providing product‑related expertise and support as part of a team‑based coverage model.
Works with other MFS departments to ensure successful closing of opportunities and timely and efficient on-boarding of new clients. In particular, works closely with relationship management and client service team. Acts as an advocate for MFS with each client and help lead and support efforts to retain, grow, and diversify relationships.
Keeps client informed of products and enhancements within MFS and relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.
To be responsible for preparing sales proposals and client meeting presentation materials by liaising and coordinating with internal parties/departments, such as RFP team, Fund/Product Managers and other related support teams.
Ensure compliance with internal MFS regulations as well as external regulatory requirements. Escalate regulatory compliance issues in accordance with established policies and procedures to Regional Compliance Officer.
Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape.
Maintain proper record keeping on using MFS C360 for all sales and business activities
Partners with the MFS product, institutional portfolio managers, portfolio managers, associate portfolio managers and research analysts when delivering presentations to prospects and clients.
Depending on regional requirements, may take on specialist coverage for specific investment strategies (e.g. equities), including preparation of client materials and participation in review meetings.
Maintain a high level of product expertise for both MFS and non-MFS products. Stay current on industry news, including industry publications, conferences, and seminars. Understanding of legal and regulatory issues and how to manage/articulate these to clients.
Supports stewardship‑related client engagement and regulatory or market‑specific reporting in Japanese in collaboration with Japan Team and global partners.
Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree. Post-graduate education in a related area and/or CFA preferred.
Minimum 8-12 years’ investment-related or financial experience with at least 5 years’ experience in direct client-relationship capacity.
Demonstrated passion for developing and nurturing client relationships.
Expertise in and good knowledge of global equity and fixed income markets is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
Solid understanding of the institutional landscape.
A strong track record in sales and delivering exemplary client service.
Native‑level Japanese and business‑level proficiency in English are required.
Collegiate team player, experienced and comfortable working in an international operating environment.
Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently and a self-starter.
Strong work ethic.
Demonstrate high level of integrity.
