The Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies in conduct of our business operations, which includes the sale, storage, and transportation of regulated materials and the 
repair of medium and heavy-duty vehicles. This role will have expertise in the applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations necessary to conduct audits, monitor compliance activities, review and prepare reporting, provide advisement to 
leadership and management, and liaise with government agencies. Additional oversight will include OSHA, EPA and NFPA regulations to ensure optimal levels compliance. 


Essential Tasks

  • Manage DQ files and all related programs regarding regulated drivers (D&A testing and clearinghouse, MVR’s, med certs, HOS, etc.), vehicle regulations, intrastate and interstate transportation regulations, CSA/SMS score 
  • monitoring, and licensing/registration requirements. 
  • Provide oversight and guidance for fleet, branch, service, and distribution operations related to DOT regulations for the transportation of hazardous materials (DG) and commercial motor vehicle operations.
  • Review and analyze permits, activities, and records to determine compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations as well as company waste handling practices and operations.
  • Manage environmental risks within the company, including SPCC for applicable locations. 
  • Monitor and audit compliance with hazardous, industrial, and universal waste management.
  • Partner with local fire marshals and inspectors to ensure facility compliance, HMMP, and proper permits. 
  • Review and audit activities, business practices, and records to determine compliance with company policies and procedures, laws, governmental regulations, and permits.
  • Identify, investigate, and report on compliance issues, irregularities, and violations. Create and update policies, procedures, and training as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison with 3rd parties and consultants.
  • Handle filings with local, state, or federal agencies.
  • Plan, prepare, and present awareness and training materials for management and team members on topics related to regulatory compliance.

Atmospheric/Environmental Conditions

The primary environment is characterized by ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment found 
in a typical office environment. Job duties in this position can result in exposure to weather elements, temperature 
variations, lighting variations, high noise levels, chemicals, and industrial equipment associated with warehouse and 
service shop environments. Some activities may require wearing of personal protective equipment.

Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Preferred Business, Environmental Sciences, or related degree.

Professional Experience/Competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of regulatory and compliance experience.
  • Expertise and experience with DOT and FMCSA regulations and standards (FMCSR & HMR).
  • Experience with NFPA, EPA, ANSI, and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Preferred knowledge of EPA regulations concerning hazardous or industrial waste generation/disposal (RCRA),  Clean Air Act (CAA), and Clean Water Act (CWA).
  • Experience with exception reporting and analysis of business data.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and communicate effectively with various management levels.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage complex issues effectively and timely.


Computer Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint. 


Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record
  • ASP, HAZWOPER, CSP, ASP, CSD, ERP, CHMM, or ASC preferred

Travel

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time is required.
