About the Job:

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Patient Access Account Specialist to provide patient-focused customer service through registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance. This role ensures compliance with Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals, while supporting patients and families with accurate information and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inpatient and outpatient registration and insurance verification

  • Collect patient financial liability payments and explain benefits

  • Ensure compliance with Medicare and payer requirements

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting

  • Support performance improvement and data analysis initiatives

  • Collaborate with departments to enhance patient experience

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience preferred

  • HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within 1 year of hire

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic and procedural coding

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
