About the Job:
Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Patient Access Account Specialist to provide patient-focused customer service through registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance. This role ensures compliance with Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications, and referrals, while supporting patients and families with accurate information and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform inpatient and outpatient registration and insurance verification
Collect patient financial liability payments and explain benefits
Ensure compliance with Medicare and payer requirements
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
Support performance improvement and data analysis initiatives
Collaborate with departments to enhance patient experience
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience preferred
HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within 1 year of hire
Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic and procedural coding
Strong customer service and communication skills
