Responsible For
The Regional Security Officer role for North Americas will be responsible for executing corporate security policies and strategy in the region, managing physical security systems and access, protecting people and property, ensuring business continuity through coordinating with teams to ensure operational readiness, acting as a liaison with law enforcement, monitor cyber security risks and provide insights and intelligence back to Head Office in Australia.   The role will work closely with Head Office and RSOs in other regions, including provide back-up support to other RSOs as required.v

Main Activities:

Physical Security

  • Accountable for safety and security of all assets in region e.g. people (in region and travellers) and office security infrastructure for a corporate office setting.
  • Partner with Group Security leadership to deliver the implementation and alignment of goals, strategy and policies in the region, including reporting and monitoring of security performance metrics. ​
  • Work collaboratively to improve delivery and operational processes within Group Security to optimise regional delivery and performance.​
  • Oversee security systems (CCTV, alarms) and manage third party suppliers involved in the provision of security-related services, to ensure compliance to policies and procedures and appropriate service delivery.
  • Proactive Situational Updates to the Global Fusion Centre – geopolitical, unrest, protest etc. ​
  • Identify and investigate threats and incidents, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Emergency Incident Management.​
  • Executive protection in region – CEO and reports​ visiting in region.
  • Manage third party suppliers involved in the provision of security-related services, to ensure compliance to policies and procedures and appropriate service delivery.
  • Engagement with local intelligence and law enforcement groups.
  • Back-up front desk security reception as required.

Cyber Security

  • Knowledge of cyber-security processes and frameworks, such as ISO27000 series, NIST, COBIT.
  • Data/intelligence gathering and analysis.
  • Preparation of regional reporting on physical and cyber security risks and incidents impacting National Australia Bank.
    Awareness of banking/finance compliance obligations and linkage to processes.
  • Engagement with local intelligence and law enforcement groups.

Business Continuity and Crisis Management

  • Business Continuity Coordinator responsible for ensuring individual business unit have business continuity plans in place and that branch-wide disaster recovery plans are tested each year.
  • Incident Management Team (IMT) member, and maintain action plans and processes for incident notifications to office staff.
  • Identify, engage and build effective working relationships with key BCM Stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Participate in Global Enterprise Resilience meetings and ensure all deliverables are completed to meet Group requirements.


Key Skills

  • Demonstrated delivery experience navigating large, complex organisations, preferably in banking and financial services.
  • Broad understanding of IT Security principles associated with networks, internet, email, operating systems, firewalls, VPN's, databases, virus management, intrusion detection, cryptography and e-commerce, with high level expertise/specialisation in several of these fields.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time-zones and cultures.
  • Track record of providing high quality, accurate insights that help drive decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders
  • Strong organization and time management
  • Ability to take initiative and drive outcomes independently.


Typical Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Computer Science, Criminal Justice or relevant field etc)
  • Previous experience in corporate security (preferably in financial services), government law enforcement or military.
