Regional Insurance Manager

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The Manager, Region Insurance reports to the Executive Vice President of his/her Region and is responsible for the insurance sales program, including staff training, and overseeing risk management and some loss prevention activities. The Manager, Region Insurance will work closely with the Director, Global Insurance to sell ValueShield, our global full value cargo coverage program, in their predetermined territories while carefully assessing the risk/reward of each opportunity. The training and sales activities with be both remote and face-to-face with staff, current and potential customers in one-on-one situations as well as seminar settings. The role necessitates strict adherence to JAS' and insurance industry policies and regulations, expertise in marine insurance, logistics, freight forwarding, and effective communication, presentation and follow up skills, as well as relationship management.

  • Prepare territory/country specific ValueShield sales training materials for delivery across multiple territories/countries utilizing the base training provided by our Global Headquarters.
  • Attend and perform sales calls in collaboration with management, sales and account management resources and/or unaccompanied.
  • Prepare submissions to various markets for coverage enhancements and/or policy endorsements.
  • Process requests for spot cargo quotes for over-dimensional and/or high value and/or restricted commodity shipments.
  • Process requests for blanket ValueShield+ insurance proposals, including follow up, binding and certificate issuance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Legal Department to provide coverage interpretation.
  • Assist with the preparation of ValueShield revenue budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor, measure and provide feedback to JAS subsidiaries regarding revenue performance.
  • Compile data for monthly and quarterly revenue reports.
  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership at the Region and Subsidiary level to ensure consistent messaging to sales and account management staff.
  • Additional insurance related functions as may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (AS NEEDED):

  • Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports
  • Identify and resolve personnel issues
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·College degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Marketing or equivalent.

  • Logistics and/or Insurance sales experience.

·Paralegal Certificate (not required)

·Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Co-pilot

ENVIRONMENT:

98% performed in climate-controlled internal home and/or office environment working under normal office conditions.   Travel will be (up to 50 %) required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
