Key Responsibilities:
- Work to ensure WLK New Material Company, Shanghai is in compliance with all HSE regulations and government reporting requirements. Act as a primary contact with regulatory authorities.
- Work to ensure WLK New Material Company establishes and maintains state-of-the-art standards, management systems and practice for safety, environmental protection and occupational health, oversee and support across the region.
- Manage, Coach and mentor HSE teams and site personnel at Shanghai and across Asia to enhance their HSE capabilities and performance.
- Develop and promote a strong HSE culture through effective communication, training programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and clients, on HSE matters.
- Work with local site teams to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies across Asia.
- Collaborate with key business partners, such as tollers, to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and relevant WLK policies.
- Develop and execute comprehensive regional HSE strategies and plans aligned with global HSE objectives and regulatory requirements for Asia.
- Oversee and manage regional incident investigation processes, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct regular HSE visits and inspections of facilities within the region, identify areas for improvement.
- Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance through the identification and implementation of best practices and innovative solutions.
- Monitor and report on regional HSE performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and implementing proactive measures to improve results.
- Lead and support the development and delivery of HSE training programs to employees and contractors across the region.
- Support the Corporate HSE Audit program, selecting and staffing audit teams with appropriate expertise.
- Influence leadership decisions at various levels to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into business processes and strategic planning.
- Provide HSE guidance during mergers and acquisitions, allowing fact-based decisions and ensure seamless integration of safety protocols and compliance standards post-merger.
- Oversee and guide the structure and implementation of HSE & PSM related IT software.
- Serve as a key member of the Europe & Asia Crisis Team, available to receive and respond to crisis calls from sites, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of international and Asian HSE regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to the chemical industry.
- Preferably certified lead auditor for HSE related ISO Norms.
- Proficiency in HSE management software and data analysis tools.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HSE roles within complex, multinational organizations.
- At least 2-5 years of experience in a HSE leadership role with regional responsibilities, preferably within the chemical or a related industry.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing HSE strategies with measurable results.
