Job Description

The Recreation Therapist (Non-Certified) plans and leads therapeutic recreation activities that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of adult and geriatric patients. This role helps individuals build daily living and community functioning skills while working closely with Certified Recreation Therapists and the interdisciplinary care team.

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate and treat clients with physician referral; develop and document therapeutic recreation plans of care

  • Plan and facilitate group and individual therapeutic recreation interventions

  • Monitor client progress and adjust interventions as needed

  • Participate in multidisciplinary care plan meetings

  • Support department planning, team communication, and program operations

  • Maintain equipment and ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment

  • Assist in mentoring interns, assistants, and volunteers

  • Promote quality improvement, safety, and culturally responsive care

  • Maintain compliance with professional standards and organizational policies

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong verbal communication skills to lead therapeutic activities

  • Written communication skills for required documentation

  • Current BCLS certification (if required by department/program)

  • Family Care Safety Registry

  • Must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree or completion of a college program

  • One year of related experience
