Position Summary:

This summer seasonal position is responsible for teaching beginner to advanced tennis lessons, and organizing lesson plans, practices, and activities.  Work includes maintaining a safe play environment and providing tennis skills development instruction. 

Hours will vary based on candidate availability, department needs, and weather.

Examples of Work Performed:

The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

  • Maintain a safe practice and instructional environment for program participants, including checking courts and surrounding walkways for hazardous conditions, i.e. litter, broken glass, standing water, manmade and natural hazards, and maintaining safe sports and maintenance equipment.

  • Maintain class order; supervise and guide instructional activities for program participants.

  • Prepare all lesson plans and all program reports to include, but not limited to: incident reports, daily logs, work orders, and action reports.

  • Report unlawful behavior, vandalism, or hazardous conditions promptly.

  • Respond to citizen concerns and complaints.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.

  • Advanced training or team or individual tennis league participation. 

  • Experience working with kids is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation:

Starting hourly rate for Recreation Instructor - Tennis is $14.00 year one, $14.25 year two, and $14.50 year three. This is a seasonal position and there are no benefits.

Physical Requirements:

High Physical Requirements - Job requires significant physical exertion, with tasks that involve more active movement. This job may include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, or engaging in manual labor.
