Salary Range: $16.5 - $18 Per Hour

Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation Hillberg and Otter Lake on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a not to exceed (NTE) position of 30-Sep-2026. This position is also Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility.

Major Duties:

  • This position is assigned to the Community Services Flight, supporting Outdoor Recreation operations. Primary duties are performed at Otter Lake (including Warrior Xtreme Paintball) and/or Hillberg Ski Area, depending on seasonal operations and scheduling requirements. Performs and/or assists in the daily operation, customer service, and maintenance of assigned recreational facilities. Types of duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Customer Service & Transactions: Processes cash and credit card transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems (i.e.,RecTrac). Answers phones, responds to customer inquiries, and receives and resolves minor customer complaints. Equipment & Facility Operations (Otter Lake/Paintball): Issues lake boats, cabins, and paintball equipment. Assists in booking and maintaining the Otter Lake Lodge, campsites, and paintball course. Demonstrates safety and conservation techniques, as well as proper equipment usage for activities like boating and paintballing. Inspects facilities and ensures cabins, boats, and equipment are vacated/returned in good order. Maintains recreation area grounds. Equipment & Facility Operations (Hillberg Ski Area): Issues lift tickets and rental equipment (skis, snowboards, boots, poles, helmets). Completes rental forms and provides general instruction on equipment safety and use. Inspects returned rental equipment for damage. Performs repairs, waxing, and binding release tests on rental equipment. Sells, maintains, and restocks pro shop inventory. Maintains cleanliness of the lodge. General Support: Sets up facilities for various activities and special events. Possesses a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of the activities offered. Inspects facilities and equipment for security and general conditions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience in customer service and cash handling using a point-of-sale system is highly preferred. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and instruct patrons on basic equipment usage and safety. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation as a condition of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support seasonal operations.
