Location: North Shields (you will be working across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland)

Working Hours : 22.5 hours per week (Working days can be negotiated however 1/3 is required to be a Wednesday)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £24,243 - £28,930 (to be pro rata'd)

Please note: The salary listed reflects the full earning potential for this role. Starting salaries depend on experience and progression within the band.

Mental Health Recovery Worker

About the Role:

Mental Health Recovery Workers ensure our residents are at the heart of everything we do. As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be integral to our team, providing essential support to individuals accessing our mental health services. Your primary focus will be on delivering person-centred support that empowers those that we support to achieve their recovery goals. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working in a collaborative environment. Independence and resilience can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. That’s where you come in. Responsible for supporting and inspiring the people who use our services to maintain their accommodation and build independence skills.

You will work directly with the people who use our services to co-produce a support plan that will see their goals and aspirations achieved. The sorts of areas you could be working on could include developing domestic and financial management skills, learning to manage their accommodation, or accessing work, leisure or educational opportunities, amongst others.

About the Service:

In this role you will work across three services, our Gateshead Women’s service, Newcastle Supported Housing, and our Personal Budget Service. You will also support with our general needs properties.

 Working for our Newcastle Support Housing service and our Gateshead Women’s Service, you will support individuals aged 18 and upwards who have a mental health diagnosis to move into one of our tenancies helping them to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible, you will then meet with them each week to support them both emotionally and practically to develop life skills which enable them to sustain their tenancy and eventually move on to independent living. This can include a number of tasks such as money management, managing bills, reporting repairs and supporting them to keep on top of the cleanliness of their property. You will support them with all aspects of the move on process. You will then get the property ready for our next move in. The individuals that we support though our housing service have multiple and complex needs, this can include a struggle with addiction or an offending history as well as other support needs.

 In our Personal Budget Service you will support individuals aged 18 and upwards with a mental health diagnosis who have block hours of support. You will meet these individuals either in their own homes or out in the community and provide tailored support around areas that they currently struggle with to help them achieve their goals. The individuals that we support through this service live across Tyne, Wear and Northumberland.

About You:

Like us, you are keen to break down the stigma of mental health. You’ll bring all your skills to the table, including strong customer service and communication skills, but also your  empathetic, flexible, creative and compassionate nature and enthusiasm for supporting others. You’ll thrive under pressure, be happy to work both independently and within a team and know how to connect with people at all levels and really enjoy helping others. No formal qualifications required as full training will be provided. If you have the skills and qualities listed above, we want to hear from you.

Candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system and available for on call duties, which may include evenings, weekends and nights.
