The Receiving and Shipping Team Lead provides daily operational leadership for the department, ensuring accurate, efficient, and organized movement of goods. This role owns floor rhythm, monitors workflow health, and serves as the team’s go to resource for problem solving, training, and system support in a fast paced, multi system environment.
Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Operational Execution
Lead daily receiving and shipping activities to ensure timely, accurate order processing.
Review inbound/outbound volume at the start of shift and set daily priorities.
Monitor workflow throughout the day; adjust assignments to prevent bottlenecks and SLA risk.
Ensure proper staging and end‑of‑day accountability of all product.
Oversee documentation accuracy and system updates across required platforms.
Coordinate courier pickups, returns, special handling requests, and exception resolution.
Maintain and update SOPs; ensure consistent adherence to process and safety standards.
Process Control & Issue Management
Reinforce SOP and safety compliance across all workstreams.
Conduct spot‑checks to ensure shipment accuracy and receiving integrity.
Identify discrepancies such as damages, shortages, routing errors, or documentation gaps.
Escalate issues early with clear context and recommended solutions.
Track recurring issues and communicate trends to leadership.
Team Leadership
Serve as the primary resource for workflow, process, and system questions.
Assign daily tasks and support throughput goals.
Train and onboard new employees and temporary staff.
Provide real‑time coaching to reinforce accuracy, urgency, and accountability.
Act as department point of contact during manager absence.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Align daily work with Operations leadership priorities and shifting business needs.
Identify workflow gaps and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency.
Support cross‑team coordination to maintain smooth operational flow.
Qualifications
1+ year shipping/receiving or warehouse experience required.
Prior lead or floor leadership experience preferred.
Forklift and pallet jack certification/permit preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel).
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to lead through influence and maintain composure under pressure.
Physical Requirements: Repetitive movement; able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Base pay, $28.50 - 29.00/hour. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications.
