Littelfuse is seeking a highly motivated person to join the Industrial Circuit Protection Engineering team as a Research and Development Engineering Manager.  Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Global ICP Engineering, the R&D Engineering Manager will manage all engineering activities for a medium sized team including design, development, prototyping, and validation. The individual will be required to establish and implement plans for overall engineering objectives holding themselves and the team accountable for meeting core KPIs. The candidate should be an experienced problem solver and able to confront challenges directly meeting team goals and objectives. This role is expected to develop the engineering team and will be held accountable for team performance.  Meeting project objectives and timing is imperative to performing the role well.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing low voltage and medium voltage industrial circuit protection solutions, primarily for overcurrent protection. The position will be in person and located in the Basque region of Spain. The individual will serve a critical role for our growing business and will be viewed as a leader of our European technical team. This position will be asked to identity the human and equipment resources required to have a fully functioning R&D engineering team in the region.

About the Job:

  • Thrive in a leadership role for our European based industrial circuit protection R&D team

  • Coach and manage daily activities for the team

  • Maintain full accountability for the performance and development of the team.

  • Determine resource allocation and usage to meet project schedules and achieving business goals.

  • Adjust resources as needed to keep projects on schedule and within budget

  • Lead engineering projects to overcome challenges particularly where analysis of hurdles requires broad technical aptitude

  • Evaluate business and market needs to help prioritize engineering activities driving value add projects

  • Ensure compliance to relevant safety and performance standards

  • Maintain a DFx mentality and expand that to the broader team driving the launch of differentiated and cost-effective solutions

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders ensuring the high performance and quality the Littelfuse brand requires

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline

  • Understand core principles of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering with the ability to apply to real world applications

  • Flexible and willing to work with multiple functional groups within the company   

  • 10+ years of prior job experience in the industrial electrical industry

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

  • Advanced experience with CAD software platforms specifically Autodesk Inventor

  • Highly capable problem solver with exceptional time management

  • Robust communication skills and fluent in English (written and verbal)    

  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail   

  • Driven, self-developer, and eager to make a change     

  • Motivated to join an international, fast-paced environment   

  • Passionate about technology and looking to apply that passion to a career 

  • Willing to travel frequently within Europe and occasionally to the United States

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering Management

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management
