We are hiring a R&D and TS&D Laboratory specialist to join our Automotive Adhesives R&D team based in Freienbach.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Advancing Adhesive Technologies: This role demands deep expertise in polyurethane and silane chemistry, automotive manufacturing standards, material compatibility, and performance requirements to ensure adhesive products meet precise specifications. It also requires proficiency in adhesive testing methods and equipment, as well as a thorough understanding of OEM and Tier supplier quality standards within the transportation sector.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration between different functions (such as sales, marketing, production, engineering, and quality assurance) is crucial for the successful development of new products, the improvement of mechanical testing procedures, the marketing of adhesive products, and the handling of customer complaints with troubleshooting.
Compliance with Safety Standards: It is essential for this role to ensure that all developed products comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. This compliance is crucial not only for legal reasons but also for the safety and satisfaction of end-users.
Support Raw Material Double Sourcing Projects: To ensure supply security and cost optimization, it is critical to qualify multiple raw material alternatives. In this role, you will provide technical guidance to Procurement and Product Management, coordinate raw material analyses, and oversee the qualification of new raw material sources for adhesives.
Support Localization Projects: This role will support localization efforts tailored to specific customers particularly. This may cover adapting products to meet local regulatory requirements and market preferences. Provide support for scale-up activities during commercial product launch and oversee manufacturing processes.
Technology Transfer: This role will provide technical support to manufacturing teams to facilitate the seamless transfer of products and processes to new production sites.
Education & Experience
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or a related technical field is required.
Proven experience in polyurethane-based adhesive technologies and a solid understanding of adhesive applications in transportation, particularly within the automotive sector.
Proficient in English and German; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
Must possess an analytical mindset with effective problem-solving capabilities and technical knowledge in service operations.
Demonstrate self-motivation and exceptional interpersonal skills to foster collaboration effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Engage actively with production and quality assurance teams to drive improvements. Work closely with the engineering team to enhance mechanical testing processes.
Execute practical lab work in compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.
Familiarity with software for statistical analysis and data visualization such as JMP, understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) principles, and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical claims utilizing skills in analytical material characterization.
Demonstrated capability to design and implement new testing methodologies to address emerging technical challenges. Skilled in identifying gaps in existing evaluation processes, creating robust and reliable test protocols, and ensuring accurate quantification of novel performance parameters.
