Job Summary
The Radiology Radiology Technician, MRI participates in the day-to-day operation of the CT/MRI department, including quality control and patient exam acquisition. Perform all exams as listed in the Procedure Manual under the direction of the assigned Radiologist. May be assigned non-technical responsibilities as needed and/or transfer to other areas as needed.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Perform all CT/MRI procedures and Quality Control tests within CT/MRI department as specified by procedure manual
• Properly adjust contrast and density levels as needed in PACS; Use alternate filming methods as needed; Merge studies on PACS when required; Appropriately adjust the scanning methods as required for age specific exams
• Process images, including bone windows, soft tissue windows, reconstructions and 3D imaging at the completion of exams
• Charge exams according to the proper CPT definition as the exams are completed
• Review lab results and promptly send charge corrections to the Administrator Coordinator, when necessary
• Proficiently start IVs and inject contrast media as needed for specific exams
• Provide education to patient regarding exams, expectations, and time frames for procedures
• Transport patients to and from exam tables. Transport patients and supplies to the other areas of the hospital as required
• Schedule patients out for exams in CT/MR in appropriate time slots. Ensure all necessary information is available, including ordering Physician diagnosis, insurance and pre-certification information
• Keep exam room clean and stocked with supplies
• Cover standby in MRI on a rotating basis when needed
• All other related assigned responsibilities
Education and Experience
• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiology
• +1 year of progressive and relevant hospital/clinic experience.
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Current registration with ARRT and TDH-MRT certification
• BLS- Basic Life Skills certification
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work “on call” and rotating shifts
• Knowledge of Radiology equipment, diagnostic procedures, and regulatory standards
• Able to use independent judgement and work without supervision
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
The Radiology Department Manager is an essential part of the Radiology leadership team working to ensure the department provides high quality, timely, and patient focused imaging services while also maintaining a positive work environment for employees. This position will have extensive interaction with all Hospital Units and Floors, as well as TTUHSC Clinics and other Physician Clinics within and outside of the Lubbock Community
Physical Capabilities
Work requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and transporting patients, equipment and/or supplies. Should be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be emotionally and physically fit
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position requires frequent work near sources of radiation and in low light conditions in order to see the centering lights. Fast paced environment with occasional to frequent high pressure or emergent situations. This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. Occupational risk and exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a Hospital/Medical environment.
