Quality Manager – Precision Manufacturing
Stockport
You will lead quality across a complex precision manufacturing operation, managing a skilled team and ensuring that products meet stringent ISO and customer standards. This role suits you if you want ownership of quality systems, influence across engineering and operations, and the scope to improve processes end to end.
What you will do
- Lead and mentor Quality Assurance Engineers and Specialists across multiple manufacturing lines.
- Oversee incoming inspection, in‑process controls and final release, ensuring all products meet specification and regulatory requirements.
- Run investigations for quality and safety issues, apply effective root cause analysis and manage all CAPA activity to closure.
- Lead validation work using IQ, OQ and PQ methodologies and own risk mitigation for your area.
- Prepare for and lead internal and external audits and maintain audit readiness at all times.
- Track quality and EHS KPIs, report trends to senior leadership and escalate issues promptly.
- Apply Novanta Growth System tools to reduce waste, improve yield and increase product quality.
- Work with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to resolve issues and strengthen processes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, including chemical handling, PPE use and emergency response standards.
- Support NPI by defining quality plans, validation protocols and risk assessments.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of manufacturing quality experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 13485, 14001 and 45001, plus experience in FDA‑regulated environments.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex technical projects.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, ideally with Lean or Six Sigma experience.
- Clear and confident communication skills, able to influence at all levels.
- Experience supporting production line moves or duplication.
Travel and physical requirements
- Up to 25 percent travel to suppliers, customers and other sites, including international travel. There could be some significant travel in the first 12 months of this role. It is likely that this will reduce to circa 10% in 2027.
- Ability to lift 23 kilograms and work on the production floor for extended periods.
